Speaking of awful commercials

(As I did the other week)
On my drive to and from Bay Path yesterday (a truly hellish experience -- nearly eight hours in the car for what should be barely over a three-hour round trip), I listened to some ESPN radio when NPR played the one show I cannot stand*. And there was a Hanes commercial bragging about getting rid of tags, and how they now wanted to get rid of other things they can't stand. Like "replacement referees."
Great topical commercial, folks! I can't wait for their commercial next year making fun of the success of "Gangnam Style."
Also, radio commercials are even more annoying than TV commercials. And that says something.
*Car Talk. Seriously, what the fuck is it with the obsession over a pair of obnoxious shows about cars amongst people who otherwise seem to have such great taste? The only show in any medium worse than Car Talk that doesn't involve a Kardashian that I know of is Top Gear. That said, they followed CT with a really solid radio documentary show, with a fascinating piece on the way VA hospitals overprescribe narcotics. Alas, I can't find any mention of it on the WBUR website.
