So this is Elayna's birthday weekend. Tomorrow's her birthday, Saturday is her party (she won a Barbie Birthday from Mattel, to be hosted at our local K-Mart). Our gifts for her include a pinball machine (miniature), the Bubbles Gameboy game, a board game called Hang in There that she's been wanting, and a gerbil (plus cage, etc). We haven't gotten the last one yet, since we want her picking it (probably them -- gerbils do better in pairs) out. She's also got a bunch of other gifts waiting in wraps from various relatives. My mom got her a Barbie cash register which, Zuul help us all, comes with a "real" American Express card.

'song's parents are coming into town tonight, and we're all going out to dinner at Edo for Elayna's bday tomorrow (yes, a full weekend of in-laws-to-be who still haven't quite forgiven me for "taking" their granddaughter away -- Numfar, do the dance of joy!). They're taking Elayna on Saturday night, and we'll be seeing Rent then. I haven't seen Broadway musical since the early '90s (I was spoiled after living i NYC for so long), but Rent is one of two that I've been interested in since then (The Producers being the other, of course). When I left NYC, the last musicals I'd seen were Nathan Lane's star-turn revival of Guys and Dolls, and Crazy for You, the musical that re-worked Gershwin songs into a new, wonderful musical. Both were delights, and left me with a good feeling about Broadway, something I needed after the crap that dominated during the late '80s. I've heard that Rent manages to combine old-school and new-school quite nicely, so I'm looking forward to it.

As for being sick, after purging this morning, I've been feeling better. So hopefully I'm over the hump and all will be well.
