:-( I can't think of any silver-age writer who had more of an impact on me, including that Stan Lee guy. I grew up reading Sgt. Rock, and I loved his Metal Men. And I can't even begin to talk about the impact that Showcase #4 (or, more accurately, the reprints of it) had on me, both directly, and indirectly (the Silver Age Flash was my favorite Silver Age hero, hands down).

Date: 2002-05-08 08:46 am (UTC)it was his characters, i think, that really made the comics work for me -- i loved the guys of Easy Company, and poor Jeb Stuart of the Haunted Tank. they were totally believable as people, something i believe gets overlooked too often in comic writing.
