May. 20th, 2002 08:32 amSo I started reading Charlaine Harris's Dead Until Dark on the bus today. It had been sitting on my to-read pile for a while, but after seeing enough Anita Blake comparisons, and being too tired to start a Jeff Noon book (my brain can't handle it), I decided to give it a shot.
It's nifty so far, but there's one thing that really irked me. On page one -- page fucking one -- the short female narrator with mystical powers who soon starts dating a vampire announces that she's wearing, yes, black Nikes!
Argh!
Someday, I'm going to write a vampire novel about a short chick who dates vampires, and she's going to wear fucking New Balance!
