Interesting. They've announced the new artist on Supergirl, and it's Ed Benes. He's done a decent job on Gen13, but even under Adam Warren, that series has always been a chance to do lots of pin-ups. Supergirl is probably the single most intelligent series being published under either of the Big 2's main imprints. Should be interesting watching him have to change his style slightly to handle all the "normal" looking characters.

Have you read the first 70 or so issues of Supergirl? Just doesn't seem likely. Even at its most intelligent (when Warren was writing it), Gen13 never really addressed *big* issues the way SG is doing. And although there are certainly plenty of cheesecake characters (I mean, SG wears a mini-skirt and flies, for zuul's sake!), there are also a lot of everyday types, like Buzz and Andy and everyone else, who don't have super-breasts or super-muscles.

I once bitched out a cadre of comic book artists at DragonCon (no, I have no idea which ones). Told them that they were personally responsible for making gamer chicks have self esteem issues, because of how unrealistic the fantasies we were competeing against were. They apologized. And put me in one of their swimsuit issues. :)
