Well, I'm off to my big day o' work. Although I should be online during the day, which will give me a chance to respond to all the great comments on the myth thread if things get slow.
Son is 7, we have a book called "Timeless Myths," that we have read to him over and over through the years. He's moved on now to Edith Hamilton, but it has the following stories (less *intense* versions) of Theseus and the Minotaur, Daedalus and Icarus, Jason and the Golden Fleece, Bellerophon and Pegasus, Perseus and the Gorgon, Achilles and Hector, Horatius at the Bridge, and Androclus and the Lion. He also has a book on the latter story as well, that was done, for say 12 year olds, I guess, but he's a little advanced for his age when it comes to reading and especially to all things myth, fantasy, sci-fi, etc. Good luck!
Thanks! I've been starting to keep an eye out for some books for her to create a list, although I'd rather they be supplements for the storytime (I like the idea of myths being an oral tradition).
