There is such a thing as a free lunch. And it comes with a pen.

So, the Alumni Association promised us lunch at the meeting today. We'd been meeting for years, literally, about getting a good online community started for alums (as opposed to the piece of crap they have now). I doubt it'll ever really get off the ground. But they moved the meeting today to lunchtime, and when we got there, instead of pre-packaged sandwiches, we had menus from the Houson Mill House (which has a damned fine catering kitchen) to order from. So I had a nice grilled tuna on focaccia sandwich, with a side if shoestring sweet potatoes.

And then afterwards, to think us for putting in so much time on the project (which is our job, and it's not like these are external clients or something), they gave us really beautiful Alumni Associate pens. As an alum, I don't even have to feel guilty when I use it.

So, all in all, a productive meeting. Even if we're all certain nothing is ever going to get off the ground.
