Shopgirl news!

Shopgirl, one of my favorite little books of the last few years, is being made into a movie! Of course, it might very well stink, but they've cast Steve Martin (Duh!), Clare Danes, and Jimmy Fallon as three of the four characters. Dunno who the other female character (the "rival" of the titular Clare Danes character) will be played by. I've got mixed feelings about the cast. Martin will be great (aside from his underrated skill as an actor, it's also his book), and Fallon will probably be okay in his role, but I can't see Danes pulling off her part very well. *shrug* Then again, I don't think I've seen her in anything since Les Miserables a few years back, so I shouldn't underestimate her, I guess.

She did the incredibly lifeless voice of San in the dubbed "Mononoke." woo.

Oh yeah. Wish I could forget that one -- it was one of the most phoned-in performances that I've ever seen.

She's done a couple of good parts. From what I've heard of the character, I think she'll do it well. Anything written by and starring Steve Martin has gotta be good in my book. He's amazing!

She probably would -- she's got the "everygirl" look, which that character needs. I thought the lead was a bit older, but it's been a while since I read the book. And yeah, as long as Steve is still involved with the project, I'm not too worried.
