So, having mostly caught up on my tv viewing this week:
First, Tivo failed to change the channel for Scrubs (the second Heather Locklear ep). Anyone have it and want to send me a copy?
Second, South Park was fucking brilliant. As always. This time, it was Lord of the Rings and porn. I simply can't believe some of the lines they had on this ep -- Token: And when a women has four penises inside her, and then she stands up and pees on one of the men, is that love?
Third, The Sopranos. After a mediocre one the week before, last week's was just amazing. I knew that Ralphie was going to die, but it was still gripping. He was an asshole who, as Tony said, deserved to die any number of times. But the way he went -- between the accident with his son and then Tony's rage over the horse -- was just incredibly powerful. I'll miss his character; even if he was scum, he brought something special to the show.
Fourth, The Savage Time -- a damned fun JLA animated movie. I would have liked it to be longer, but seeing Steve Trevor (even though the very end of the plotline reminded me a tad of Squadron Supreme) and Easy Co was worth it. I'm not 100% happy with how they played Bulldozer, but seeing Ice Cream Soldier, Wildman, and Sgt. Rock was great. I also liked the implied possibility of romance (and, *gasp* a plot moving forward) between Hawkgirl and GL, which is totally natural given the way those characters are played in the Animated universe.
Fifth, Buffy just kicked ass. Just an amazing episode, one that could lead to all sorts of possibilities and questions (did Dawn ever really enounter Joyce, or was it all the First, as Joss wants us to believe? Could there be a grain of truth in what Cassie said? Will we ever see Jonathan again? What's the deal with Spike?). Alas, as always, I suspect that after Sweeps, we're going to have the usual month+ of no new eps.
Sixth, did anyone else find it interesting to see the Cigarette Smoking Man as the mayor on Smallville? And anyone want to bet how long it is before someone writes a piece of slash involving him?
Seventh, Gilmore Girls was damned good, as always. Go Dean, for finally developing a backbone! And go Lane, for finally having a chance at a relationship -- the entire scene between her potential Boy and her mom was great.
And finally, Firefly was great. I can't believe that Jayne has pretty much become my favorite character on the show (after the first ep, I was ready to never see him again). Now, if only the show lasts an entire season.
Still haven't watched Birds of Prey yet.
