Weirdness: I've gotten to bed before midnight for two nights straight. Was in bed barely after elevenish on the last two nights, which means I actually got six hours of sleep twice in a row on work nights! My body must be slowing down. Never used to need this much sleep.

This also means that I was too tired to watch The Sopranos last night.

On the way to school today, Elayna told me how happy she was that her haircut only trimmed her bangs, because Jake, her bf, likes long hair, and she wants to stay pretty for him. I went through the whole rigmarole, explaining how Jake should like her for who she is, how short hair can be just as attractive (I didn't let on that it's actually more attractive), how anyone can have pretty hair, but no one else can be like Elayna, etc. She basically agreed with everything I said, but still insists that she'd rather have long hair, since that's what Jake likes. Sigh. I do not like this boy.

Am reading The Night Watch. Is okay, but not awesome. I think Pratchett has hit the point where he needs to move away from Discworld. He's capable of telling a superbly detailed, richly complex story. But the world he's using begs for humor and social satire. There was a time, when he was in full stride, when he could toe the line (Men at Arms comes to mind immediately), but recently, in spite of the brief bump of Thief of Time and The Truth (both of which I enjoyed immensely), most of the books have fallen a bit flat for me.

Before crashing last night, I read all of the issues of Exiles that we have. I now need to fill in the gaps between the first trade and the issues. It's a damned good series -- basically What If, but with continuity and Plastic Man (sorry, but Morph ain't there for his originality). Damned fun stuff.

While on the subject of comics, the wonderful Codename Knockout is coming to an end. If you've missed it, buy it, now. It rocks.

The good news is that, not only does Rodi have a nifty looking series coming out for the Cro$$gen's "Creator owned" Code 6 line (the creators "own" the title until they leave), but he's announced that he'll be relaunching a Marvel title next Spring. Too bad it's not likely to be Captain America -- I'd love to see his take on it. :-)

In other news, as I live vicariously by reading about current Broadway shows, it's been announced that Rosie Perez and Joe Pantoliano will replace Edie Falco and Stanley Tucci in "Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune." This is a wonderful play, and was a decent movie (with Al Pacino and Michelle Pfeiffer as the "plain" looking romantic couple). I just wanna know why they insist on the Sopranos connection with every new casting. Although Joey Pants deserves as many good roles as he can get -- his run on The Sopranos was outstanding.

Stayed up late a few nights ago, and while channel surfing found MC Hammer's religious show. And all I could think was:

Stupid Stupid Rap Preachers.

Huh... I dunno, I really =liked= Night Watch. It made me laugh out loud several times, which the last couple didn't (thought I liked 'em as well).

I'm too sleepy to be a better reviewer than that. ;)

It's age. At university, I could pull all nighters. When I was in my twenties, I only needed about six hours of sleep. By my late thirties, I really required eight hours. Now, I'd love more than that if I could manage it. :)

I've always needed at least 7 hours of sleep. I hate you people who got along with less, feel the burn of the sleepy! Ha! You should have gotten more things done before we pulled you into the world of childish sleep patterns! Mwhahahaha!

I've always felt Pratchett was kind of hit and miss, but since I read his Discworld stuff very out of order, maybe I'm just noticing the same thing you are.

There should be a sequel to, or at least something in the same spirit as, _Good Omens_.

I've had the same thing happen recently--the occasional strange desire to go to sleep before midnight. What's that all about? Like, it's 10:30, and I think "I believe I'd rather sleep right now than play 3 hours of Team Fortress Classic." Very unusual.

Hey! Look at that!

I tried the first few issues of Codename: Knockout, and found it to have all the subtlety of Eric Idle saying "Wink-wink? Know what I mean?"
