So, a few days ago, I followed the herds (led by posts from chrisv and ariedana) and created my very own nation at nationstates.com. After a whopping two issues, here's the description of my country:

Location: The Black Rose Garden

The Fiefdom of Yendi is a tiny, environmentally stunning nation, notable for its strong anti-business politics. Its hard-nosed population of 6 million are fiercely patriotic and enjoy great social equality; they tend to view other, more capitalist countries as somewhat immoral and corrupt.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, socially-minded government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Social Welfare, Healthcare, and Education. The average income tax rate is 48%, but much higher for the wealthy. Private enterprise is illegal, but for those in the know there is a slick and highly efficient black market in Automobile Manufacturing.

Yendi's children are widely acknowledged as the most foul-mouthed in the region. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to a well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Yendi's national animal is the lyorn, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the imperial.

I can't decide whether to try to recruit other people into Miyabi, or drag both of us over to Black Rose. *G*

"miyabi" is the Heian Japanese concept of refined polymathism. So I suppose aesthetics and academe are our theme.

Nope -- it's Yendi. Maybe the recent tech issues are affecting things (I notice that a lot of folks who have been around long enough to be listed aren't showing up in the UN rankings of our region).
