So, after watching Josie again with [livejournal.com profile] shadesong, I was curious about whatever happened to Letters to Cleo, and saw that Kay has a solo CD. Anyone know if it's any good? Most of the blurbs I've seen say it's okay, but very different from Cleo or Josie.

Also, does anyone have any idea of what ever happened to Containe? Does anyone else ever remember them? This was the band that gave us "Shy Song (I Want to Fuck You)," possible the only song that makes Liz Phair seem chaste. It's actually something of a beautiful song, name aside. I'm pretty sure that they were a side project of Versus, but I'm not positive.

Speaking of which, anyone know when Liz has a new CD out?

Or Versus, for that matter?

Or Captain Tractor (not that Celebrity Traffic Jam was anything to write home about)?

Or Lucy Kaplansky?

Or the Dance Hall Crashers?

And is there anything else I should be listening to?

I'm listening to OKGO's latest on a loop in my irock. It's so happy-bouncy-punky-popy-snarky. And I hardly listen to lyrics anymore, I've moved past my teenage obsession with reading lyrics and divining their deep meaning, but OKGO do have a great turn of phrase.

Glad you asked. :-) Find yourself a copy of World of Monsters by the Drovers, the best live band I have ever had the privelege of seeing repeatedly. Their other albums are hit-and-miss (one of them downright bites the wax tadpole), but Monsters is nothing short of a masterpiece. Tough to find, but worth the search.
