Got back from lunch, and there was an email from my mom's best friend, letting me know that my grandma (not biological, but the person who has served that function for me all my life) passed away on Sunday.
It's not unexpected -- she had a stroke over a year ago, and has been nigh-incoherent for much of the time since. She's been in immense pain, as well, and this is probably the best thing for her. But that still doesn't make it any easier for me, selfishly enough.
The funeral is tomorrow, so I'll be using some of my funeral leave and leaving at the asscrack of dawn to head out west. I'll be gone through Thursday night. Given our router issues at home (anyone got a spare router with wireless?), I doubt you'll see me posting or commenting again before Friday morning.
I feel like I've got a lot more to say, but right now, I just don't feel like saying any of it.
