So, our initial plan to see both Holes and The Lizzie McGuire movie proved unfeasible. Which is not the worst thing in the world. So we only got to see Holes.

Suffice to say, it rocked.

A lot.

I was worried a couple of times, as there are some scenes that are a bit disturbing (all suicide-related), and they attached the Pirates of the Caribbean trailer to the flick, which scared Elayna somewhat. But she was fine. Even though the movie was a lot more complex than any kid movie I've seen.

I don't really want to spoil too many details of this movie. But it's just a damned helpful flick, and I'd highly recommend it to anyone and everyone. The acting is wonderful (always a concern when all of the stars are kids), the writing is great, and the movie is just a joy. I want this on DVD the day it comes out. Elayna may be allowed to watch it, too. :-)

Afterwards, we finally got to meet Mermaidblue and her LJ-less SO, Alex! They're absolutely wonderful folks, and they've already secured lodging (within walking distance, even)! It's so nice to meet yet another person I've known online for years (I even have a postcard [livejournal.com profile] mermaidblue sent me ages ago!), and realize that they're just as cool in person. After chatting for a while, we all (everyone already mentioned, plus [livejournal.com profile] shadesong and [livejournal.com profile] blueingenue) watched Josie and the Pussycats.

Anyway, bedtime now, as we have a Ren Fest to attend tomorrow.

Doubt I'll catch up on LJ -- between the movie and the hanging out, and tomorrow's Renfest, I'm not even planning on attempting to read stuff until Monday.
