It's been a while since I've done a poll. But since I'm bored, I'd figure I'd ask some questions. The first is inspired by various discussions around LJ. The next two are basically swiped from polls y'all are doing. The last is just because I'm weird. All are confidential -- if you really believe that Condorman is a great superhero film, no one will ever know (unless you've already posted as much in your own LJ ;-). Feel free to comment, especially if you feel I left something good out.

Oh, and I made the first question a checkbox because it's sometimes hard to pick just one film. :-)

I was hoping you would have Flash since it is my favorite. :)

Best superhero movie depends on what you're in the mood for, or how you want to define "best". So I picked a bunch. Though I forgot The Shadow, since that is also one of my favorites, as is The Phantom.

You forgot The Meteor Man (http://us.imdb.com/Details?0107563) and Blankman (http://us.imdb.com/Details?0109288). You got something against the brothas?

I saw a Meteor Man action figure at Toys 'R' Us once.

As [livejournal.com profile] linithiliel said "best" depends. I think having Superman, shiny beacon of all that is good and right, on the same choice list as The Crow, an anti-hero at best, makes things a bit too broad for me to pick just one. Unashamed of my choices, I'll explain... not that anyone was asking.

Spiderman, in my opinion, was the best standard superhero movie on the list. "With great power comes great resposibility" is one of those classic hero premises, a moral I would happily have The Boy absorb. It beats out Superman only because my bias leans toward good CGI, for Supe was The Hero and Reeves was perfect.

Unbreakable gets my vote for non-traditional hero because the movie was very real. I did not have to suspend disbelief - my disbelief was quietly taken from me when I wasn't looking. It was, I suppose, different from standard superhero fare mostly in its focus - how this would affect a normal human being, rather than all the super-keen things they would do after coming to terms with it.

I liked every superhero movie mentioned so far in both the poll *and* the comments.

Except Blankman. Blankman was just dreck.

MeteorMan, on the other hand, was great fun. And sells for about ten bucks on DVD at Circuit City. Almost bought it this weekend. Really.

See, the thing is.. I'm easily amused. And I'm not overly critical of **most** movies. This is an area where [livejournal.com profile] shadesong and I will steadfastly disagree, I think. I like lots of stuff she despises. Alanis Morisette, Country Music, Naked Twister...

Oh, wait... scratch that last one.
