Busy weekend, with cat
Jun. 29th, 2003 02:08 amSo, last night,
jet_li_wannabe decided to hold an impromptu game night, and he, his LJ-less girlfriend Tracy, Lj-less Jerry, and I played three games, none of which we'd ever played before:
Geeks: The Convention, which was damned funny. Basically, you want your geeks to be the last ones to leave the convention. It's got parodies of just about every RPG and some tabletop games. Great artwork, too.
Deadwood, Cheapass's game of b-movie mayhem.
and
Witch Trial, the only game I know of that combines those two common gaming themes, lawyers and colonial America.
Much fun was had, and we were up until way late.
Today, we had errands to run. We made it to Haverty's to buy a bed (which will be delivered on Wednesday, thankfully for my poor body), then hit Petsmart, where we were derailed.
We bought a bunch of stuff for Max, and as we were heading to the checkout line, we saw that they were doing pet adoptions.
shadesong wanted to look at the puppies, and went into the adoption room. I was looking in from the outside, and noticed that there was one cat who, unlike the others (who either loafed in their cages, or fought amongst themselves), simply sat at the front of his cage, watching all the humans as they came near. As
shadesong came near him, she noticed him, too, and played with him for a bit. Then I played with him. He was intelligent, and reached through the cage door to paw at my hand. We took him out, and he was sweet and affectionate.
Yeah, you know where this is going, right?
We now have a second cat, currently named Kevin (name is up in the air, of course). He's adorable. He's about five months old, short-haired, and amazingly friendly. He had no problem with the string of strangers who came into the house tonight, and seems utterly sweet. We've kept him and Max separate so far, since Max hissed at the new carrier when we brought it in, but we'll work on getting them together.
He does seem to hate cameras, though. As soon as I got the digital camera, he'd immediately run or turn away. I managed to get a few shots together, which can be found here. That's the best out of about eighty attempts.
Later, we had a movie night, with Total Recall (gee, you think the Warshowski brothers ever watched this one?) and Minority Report. Attendees included
blueingenue,
ashlupa,
mermaidblue, her lj-less Alex, and
shadesong and myself, of course. Much fun was had, as well as cookies (thanks to
ashlupa for the cookies).
