So, I'm currently reading Bill Fitzhugh's The Organ Grinders, which is the funniest book I've read in ages (excluding books by Moore and Pratchett). It's a sick, twisted little novel that's almost like a merger of Carl Hiaasen and Christopher Moore (I figure that Fitzhugh is their secret lovechild). Highly recommended.

And last night, [livejournal.com profile] shadesong and I watched Queer Eye for the Straight Guy. This is a damned funny show, especially for those of us who are straight, male, and schlubs. The Fab Five are fabulous, and they really do a good job, from the one ep we've watched. According to the website, though, they're only handling New York bachelors. I'd love to know more about how the show actually works (I can't believe that the apartment makeover on the one ep we saw really happened in four hours, for example), but I'm sure there will be some articles on the show soon.

Was watching....dunno what.... when Tivo was on. It flipped back to Live TV for a moment and the ad was on for the premier. We recorded a few eps, and Pricilla, and we never even made it to the movie....

Just.....damn......

And, yes, I've already berated them for not coming down to Atlanta...

It's a nother home improvement show, except cooler. They kick the home owners out for a week and turn the house into a monster house. They do some crazy over the top modifications in line with something the homeowner is into. In the race car house they removed the kitchen island and stove and built a new island/stove with diamond plate countertops and kitchen tools that pull down from an overhead rack like the oil and water hoses in a garage, with a pneumatic wisk and cooking oil and water spritzer and stuff. They also put the rear end of a car inthe kids playroom and turned it into a sofa for the kids, with working lights and stuff. In the tropil island house they turned one wall of the living room into a giant sized tiki god, cast out of hard foam and painted to look stone. They also built a tropical storm generator in the back yard. Giant fan and water sprayers and stuff, controlled with a switch in the living room. It's on discovery I think. Tivo it, you'll like it.
