How bad can a movie get?

So far, Rottentomatoes.com (which collects movie reviews) has Gigli with a 0% Fresh rating, out of 45 reviews. This means that not one reviewer so far has liked the movie. For comparison, last week's deadly duo of Tomb Raider 2 and Bad Boys 2 (two of the worst-received films of the year) came in at around 26%. From Justin to Kelly came in with a 9% Fresh rating. Pretty much any movie will have a good review or two. But Gigli has an 0-Fer so far.

My local paper has the best comment: "It's the stuff Mystery Science Theater 3000s are made of." On that note alone, I might have to rent it.


In other movie news, our cats have pretty much destroyed our League of Extraordinary Gentlemen poster, which is a sign that they have good taste, I guess.

Bummer about the poster. Now, the movie may suck, but I bet Ms. Jolie is still smokin'! I can't wait to see it, no matter *what* the reviews say. But Gigli. Um. Yeah.

Here's the best part: Apparently, JLo has decided that the reason the movie is being criticized so bad is because of - get this - the publicity surrounding her and Affleck getting together. Obviously, either we've all tired of seeing them together, or we're jealous of their success, or something like that. Couldn't possibly be because the movie itself is quickly ranking up in the top 5 of "worst films of all time", or that it contains such cheesy dialogue that even porn "writers" don't want to go near it.

Interesting. For comparison, I went to the page for Proof of Life, another movie which was overshadowed by negative publicity about the stars. And it managed to pull a 46% rating. Go figure.

Someone at daycare said it was terrible, the worst movie she has ever seen. This is someone who went to the trouble of getting into an advance screening, so they had some interest, and were not biased against the beautiful people. Not a movie I feel a need to waste my limited time on.
