Cold hands just ain't natural
Oct. 24th, 2003 09:57 amLast night, as often happened, Shadesong decided to torture me by touching me, which, since her hands manage to get colder than an ice cube for no good reason, is effective (although on hot days it can be very nice).
I realized that it was less the cold itself that bothered me (I tend to like cold temperatures), than the fact that any human could get that cold. As I explained to her, it's the same problem that all the people in the Lovecraft stories have when they encounter the fifth-dimensional geometry. Things like that just should not be.

Date: 2003-10-24 07:09 am (UTC)But yeah. My hands and face are always far colder than the temperature in whatever environment we're in.

Try having her take a shower before bed to increase circulation and to warm up her skin. Or rubbing her hands and then touching you.
Unless she just likes giving you the Cold Hands of Cthulhu.

Date: 2003-10-24 07:40 am (UTC)I all too often feel too cold (as usually do my extremities)
Mmm, heat!

Date: 2003-10-24 10:13 am (UTC)The rest of me tends to stick to room temp. I don't generate heat the way some people do. I suspect I'm actually cold-blooded.

Date: 2003-10-24 12:15 pm (UTC)Actually, bedtime isn't a problem. Once in bed, I warm up very quickly and proceed to radiate heat for the rest of the night.

Date: 2003-10-25 03:51 am (UTC)1. Women generally have colder extremeties than men.
2. Small people have a higher ratio of surface area to volume, so loose any given percentage of their total stored body heat faster than big people. That means, other things being equal, they'll (a) cool down faster after being hot; (b) "run cooler" on an ongoing basis.
3. Because of (2), small people sometimes have bigger appetites than you'd expect: they need to burn calories to keep warm.
4. Stress will cause a partial shutdown of blood circulation to the extremities, making them colder. People's hands and feet warm up again as they relax.
So, to stop
1. Sign her up for gender re-assignment.
2. Reduce the surface-to-volume ratio. This can be done by re-engineering 'Song to be more spherical.
3. Keep her well fed...
4. ...and blissed-out.
See? Simple. =:o}
