Last night, as often happened, Shadesong decided to torture me by touching me, which, since her hands manage to get colder than an ice cube for no good reason, is effective (although on hot days it can be very nice).

I realized that it was less the cold itself that bothered me (I tend to like cold temperatures), than the fact that any human could get that cold. As I explained to her, it's the same problem that all the people in the Lovecraft stories have when they encounter the fifth-dimensional geometry. Things like that just should not be.

sorry--my feet and nose get the same way, my hands too, to a lesser degree. Not much to be done about it, actually.

I get the cold hands too. You and I should probably never share a bed.

[livejournal.com profile] penguinboi actually gets colder than I do....

But yeah. My hands and face are always far colder than the temperature in whatever environment we're in.

If you want to try and fix that (and don't mind adding something All Natural to your pill regimen), get you some ginger capsules. My late SO used to take them in the wintertime.... helped with the popsicle toes...

My *nose* gets colder than you.

The rest of me tends to stick to room temp. I don't generate heat the way some people do. I suspect I'm actually cold-blooded.

Personally, I always have warm hands. I've stood in -20°C in boxers and a tshirt, and STILL had warm hands. I've had people hold hands with me just to stay warm.

But I have to admit I like being touched with cold hands. Yeah, I know, I'm a freak.

I just started thinking Not Very Good Things for a Person In a Relationship to be thinking about another Person In a Relationship, hehehehe.

I all too often feel too cold (as usually do my extremities)
Mmm, heat!

It must be a girl thing. My hands and nose are typically colder than the surrounding environment. And don't get my fiance started on the sub-arctic zone that is my butt.

Small women seem to radiate away body heat very quickly.

Lady Un can get cold 2 seconds after moving away from the water stream in the shower.

Try having her take a shower before bed to increase circulation and to warm up her skin. Or rubbing her hands and then touching you.

Unless she just likes giving you the Cold Hands of Cthulhu.

Actually, bedtime isn't a problem. Once in bed, I warm up very quickly and proceed to radiate heat for the rest of the night.

Women with kids get cold hands...our babies stole our heat and life force... I have the same problem...and the weirdest thing is to me my feet and hands don't feel cold until I touch another human's skin.

It's so annoying though to be the person that it's happening to! That used to happen to me all the time. Then at some point it stopped. And I have my theories as to why, but they're fairly boring. So, um, I understand. :)

yeah, I'm like that too. hands, feet, and nose. I got it from my mom. It's really irritating, because I tend to exotherm when I get out of the shower, but while my core is sitll cooling off, my hands and feet are already frozen. stupid circulatory system.

You've probably already this advice a zillion times, but... When it happens, try running on the spot for half a minute. (Or anything else that gets the heart pumping and the legs moving. =;o} )

I referred to my Evil Ex affectionately as "Icebutt" since, over the course of the night, her butt would drop to near- to sub-zero temperatures. It was single-handedly (single-cheekedly?) responsible for getting me out of bed on occasion... Like I said, she was Evil.

A few factoids to throw in the mix:

1. Women generally have colder extremeties than men.

2. Small people have a higher ratio of surface area to volume, so loose any given percentage of their total stored body heat faster than big people. That means, other things being equal, they'll (a) cool down faster after being hot; (b) "run cooler" on an ongoing basis.

3. Because of (2), small people sometimes have bigger appetites than you'd expect: they need to burn calories to keep warm.

4. Stress will cause a partial shutdown of blood circulation to the extremities, making them colder. People's hands and feet warm up again as they relax.

So, to stop [livejournal.com profile] shadesong making you jump, Here's the 4-step plan:

1. Sign her up for gender re-assignment.

2. Reduce the surface-to-volume ratio. This can be done by re-engineering 'Song to be more spherical.

3. Keep her well fed...

4. ...and blissed-out.

See? Simple. =:o}
