Saw Dawn of the Dead. It was good. Damned good. A metric fuckton or two better than any zombie movie in 26 years or so. I'll need to process a bit to decide if it was better than the original. How good was it? It had two cast members from American Psycho 2, and I still liked it. Bigger review to follow tomorrow.

(and no, it's not perfect; there's yet to be a perfect zombie film)

* For those who don't realize it, none of the Romero Living Dead movies (or their remakes) actually had the zombies uttering "braaaaains." This was something from the Return of the Living Dead movies, which purport to be in the same universe, but aren't.

Tell me, did you like Resident Evil? I liked it, but I think that was more for the fact that I played all the games. There were definitely some squicky moments in there...(can we say cross cut lasers??)...but I liked it!

Wow, it was better than 28 Days Later?

Yeah...

28 Days Later is by far one of my fav zombie films. And you say this is better? Bold words, sir. I shall take your enthusiatic short-review to heart and see the film. Like I bloody wouldn't already. I am Marshal Zombie, after all.
I love zombies.

Actually, The Return of the Living Dead movies say that the Romero Dead Dead films are just that... FILMS.

Well at least the first one. The entire plot of Return of the Living Dead was that Night of the Living Dead was a movie, but it was based on real facts and that the zombies were housed in canisters in the basement of where Frank and Freddy work that Burt owns.

"It's not a bad question Burt."

Well, you've sold me. I'm a BIG fan of the original, and knowing that someone with decent taste likes it a lot tips my hat into the "must see" arena. Last time my hat fell in the "Maybe" Coliseum it was eaten by an indecisive lion.

Damn! I don't get to see it until tomorrow night!

I did, however, get the chance this evening to be frightened by Angelina Jolie's enormous mutant lips. Brrrr.

"if it was better than the remake"

If it weren't for the cast comment, I'd think you'd seen the original again..

is actually in the movie. I'm not sure if he's one of the Zombies or not. He is also "UncleCreepy" from Fangoria Magazine. Got to love it when you have people who work in all industries. by the way. "Welcome home!"

Dawn of the Dead? Really? I've only seen, like, three zombie movies ever, but my raking would go something like:

1.) 28 Days Later
2.) Night of the Living Dead
and
3.) Dawn of the Dead

as a distant third. I kind of barely rember it. =:P

I'm disturbed that someone even thought that making a sequel was a good idea.... I'm more disturbed by some cast choices, but I can only process one level of dissonance at a time.

I want to see it, but I wondered if it could be shocking in light of todays ratings systems. I mean, we already know the kinds of things we WON'T see in it, so it can be so brutal that it really impacts the viewer, can it?
