Elayna read her first Joe Lansdale short story yesterday. Wonder when she'll be ready for The Nightrunners. ;-)

(no, she didn't read anything inappropriate. She read a story in Bruce Coville's Book of Nightmares, an anthology aimed squarely at her age group, The story was "The Fat Man.")

Amazing! I did read that DC/Vertigo comic that Lansdale did about his recurring God of the Razor character as well as the free stories he puts up on his site, but I haven't read enough. As far as I can recall, I only have ONE Lansdale story in "book form": the tale which appears in the Sarrantonio (spelling?) anthology called 999. I've heard so much about him, and every time I see his name, I cringe in shame.

That's strange. The Nightrunners is the only novel up until this point that I've read by him. The rest was his Jonah Hex and Lone Ranger stuff.

Apropos of absolutely nothing, I ran across this accidentally earlier today. It's apparently the cover to the Danish edition of "Yendi." Bonus points if you can provide any clue whatsoever how this image connects to the book's actual story.

Think you need to get her Angus Oblong's children's book. And Tim Burton's and eventually, Stephen King's and...

LOVE me some Joe R.!
