Van Helsing made a solid $54 Million.

Congratulations to all who paid money for it -- you just ensured that the man whose name belongs alongside Schumacher, Bay, and Emmerech in the Hack Hall of Fame will continue to get paid to make movies.

The good news is, the Olsen Twins have proven to not be box office stars, landing at #4 (lapped by Mean Girls) in spite of having the two funniest men in America (Eugene Levy and Andy Richter) in their film.

This week, everyone can go see a nearly naked Brad Pitt in what appears to be a period porn piece. Or a Jim Jarmusch movie. I know which I'd choose. I also know which America is going to choose.

(And, to be fair, I've liked at least one Wolfgang Peterson film for every one of his films that I've hated)

Someone once posted something about potential titles for Olsen twins porn films. It wasn't you, was it? That cracked me up (pun unintended)!

I agree with you about Petersen. Watching his films is a crapshoot for me as well, and until now, I'm not entirely sure if Brendan Gleeson and Peter O'Toole are enough reasons to see Troy. (The latter, in any case, was not able to save Phantoms and High Spirits.)

The Jarmusch film, whose title alone is very much begging me to see it, will unfortunately not appear on these shores. *grumbles*

The mention of porn and Peter O'Toole in the same comment makes me giggle, I don't know why.

My mistake. It WAS you, and I oddly mistook a pair of actresses for a single one. I loved that post! *grins*

The olsen twins will flop at their next big-screen attempt too and wind up in Playboy in a couple years. They'll break all the records with magazine sales. ;)

I quite liked The Mummy. I'm not ready to write off the director just because he didn't know how to make Van Helsing.

It won't be a naked Brad Pitt I'll be going to see in Troy...it'll be a nearly naked Orlando Bloom....

That is very true, although I rather like Orlando's work...it takes gumption to pull off being a 2000 year old elf and still be graceful. :P Brad can be talented (he was so tormented in Interview) but he can also be quite cheesy (The Mexican).

I hope that includes The NeverEnding Story. Most people forget that's a Wolfgang Peterson film. So best!

in what appears to be a period porn piece.

Anything can be a porn piece if you just use your imagination. I think The Passion is Biblical snuff.

The Olsens don't - as far as I can remember - get a cinema release here, it's straight to video. This weekend, for the first time ever, I saw a copy of one of their films in someone's house. Its owner was eleven.
