Yes, we've moved. Sorta. Still have some boxes and a few bookcases left to go. Otherwise, we're in the new house. And the new house rocks. Although it apparently causes major insomnia -- last night was the worst one in ages, as I was up until 3:30.

(aside: No, it's not from sleeping in a strange place -- I sleep like a baby in hotels)

On Wednesday, I took 28 short boxes, seven long boxes, and five milk crates of comics downstairs to the utility room. My calfs still will not forgive me. My back isn't complaining, surprisingly. My right knee is bitching a bit, but I think that has more to do with the big move last weekend than anything else.

No, I've not read LJ, email, or anything else that involved going online in a week (since we only got phone service at the new place yesterday). If I missed your post about your first experience felching, please fail to point me to it. If I missed a major post that you feel I need to read, please let me know.

I've finally started playing Freedom Force. It rocks just as much as everyone said it would. Yeah, I'm way behind the times.

Thanks to insomnia, I've re-read the entire original Hitchhiker's Trilogy, as well as Richard Laymon's The Cellar and half of The Beast House (with intent to finally read The Midnight Tour, the only book in the trilogy that I never got around to).

Other random thoughts:

Somehow, my renewal of Smithsonian caused the April, May, and June issues to arrive all at once (this was at the old house, so forwarding wasn't the reason). Which means that I've had some really good breakfast table reading, including a damned fine article on Diane Arbus. I can only hope that the exhibition of her work eventually makes it to Atlanta.

Thanks to Dish Network having the worst customer service ever, we're now a Comcast family, with the only loss, as far as I can tell, being $6 off our bill and the Fox Movie Network.

I'm currently back in the office today, in an attempt to catch up on work before the long weekend, and put out fires that needed putting out. Elayna is with me, enjoying a fast connection and the opportunity to play various online Disney and Nick games.

wow - cheaper for cable? Up around here, we were able to get more programming and slash our cable bill by more than half by going to DirecTV

The first couple of times I moved I got insomnia, too. Not the last time, though.

Heh, if you like freedom force, www.cityofheroes.com

Glad you are all moved in. I expect the insomnia will tone down after all the stress wears off.

The only problem that I had with Freedom Force was that the narrative style led to way too many times where nothing was built up, and things were resolved way too quickly. Such is the way of 60's comics, I guess.

Welcome home and welcome back!!! Congrats on the new digs and on connnectivity. It's sweet to imagine you two playing games together. I love Diane Arbus. How do you like Smithsonean overall? I've never had a subscription to them before.

I had Dish Network for 2 1/2 years, and I always thought their customer service was exemplary. What was your experience?
