First, we got Elayna's final report card, and she kicked ass across the board! She got a "1" (the best rating) in 60/61 categories, with a 2 (satisfactory progression) in plane geometry. That includes all the social/personal stuff as well! Woohoo!

Also, yesterday's paper published the percentages of rising fourth graders who passed the state-mandated reading test by school, and Elayna's school, Briar Vista, had only 2% fail, damned impressive considering the number of immigrants and general lack of funding the school gets. That's the same rate as Oak Grove, one of the richest school districts, and better than Sagamore, the school we're right next to now.

So yeah, we're pretty damned happy with Briar Vista's implementation of Montessori.

In other news, the upgrade went fine. I'll be working from home today, and will be offline most of the day as I attempt to get Bellsouth's ass kicked (switching to Comcast isn't very likely, alas, unless I want to pay out of pocket, instead of getting work to pay).

Wow - great going, Elayna!

It's refreshing to an ex-teacher like myself to see such a hard working and enthusiastic student.

Good idea on their part.
Archer goes to Montessori and we have been nothing but delighted with their program.

That's great! Congrads not only to her, and her school for the great work their doing, but also to her supportive mom and dad. Yes, she did the work, but you encouraged her and gave her a home environment that is condusive to learning.

Hey, I've been meaning to ask--I got a really cute pic of you and Elayna when we were at JavaMonkey last month. It was when I stealth-photographed her and she got all annoyed-giggly. Let me know your address and I'll send it to you guys.
