Two notes about Elayna and school
Jun. 11th, 2004 07:19 amFirst, we got Elayna's final report card, and she kicked ass across the board! She got a "1" (the best rating) in 60/61 categories, with a 2 (satisfactory progression) in plane geometry. That includes all the social/personal stuff as well! Woohoo!
Also, yesterday's paper published the percentages of rising fourth graders who passed the state-mandated reading test by school, and Elayna's school, Briar Vista, had only 2% fail, damned impressive considering the number of immigrants and general lack of funding the school gets. That's the same rate as Oak Grove, one of the richest school districts, and better than Sagamore, the school we're right next to now.
So yeah, we're pretty damned happy with Briar Vista's implementation of Montessori.
In other news, the upgrade went fine. I'll be working from home today, and will be offline most of the day as I attempt to get Bellsouth's ass kicked (switching to Comcast isn't very likely, alas, unless I want to pay out of pocket, instead of getting work to pay).
