Wednesday Randomness
Jun. 16th, 2004 10:28 amTomorrow I head to Princeton for Resnet. Woohoo and all that. Still not sure about free time to hit NYC or Philly, but I'll post more from there.
At risk of lemmingness, Go Pistons! Phil, hope you're nice and Zen about having the crap kicked out of you by a team from the conference that actually knows how to fucking rebound.
You know what sucks about file-sharing? Trying to find folks with anything approaching less-than-mainstream tastes. All I fucking want is a copy of Fairport Convention's amazing cover of Leonard Cohen's "Closing Time," from their Jewel in the Crown CD (which I own but can't currently find, and which is the best CD they had post-Denny). Not only can I not find it, but I can't even find the Cohen version (not that I need it, as I've already ripped that CD). But I can find four fucking zillion copies of the most overplayed song of 1998.
You know what really sucks about the book I'm reading (another one for Bookslut)? When the author hinges so much of a story on wordplay, and can't figure out the difference between "affect" and "effect." It's a sign of near-illiteracy in any context, but when the author is supposed to be the next Woody Allen, it's really annoying.
Update on Dodgeball: Don't even think about leaving before the very end of the credits. The sixty seconds or so after the credits are painfully funny.
