Watched the latest Celebrity Poker Showdown on Tivo last night.

Good game. Foley is finally working for me as a host. And the contestants were really good. Lauren may be inexperienced, but she clearly understands the game's concepts. And just watching Lauren and Sara Rue even kid about making out is a truly wonderful thing.

Poor Chris Masterson, though. The second member of his family to finish in second place. He made a few bone-headed moves, but the cards just weren't right for him (nor for Sara). Lauren was definitely in the hot seat.

I'm really psyched for this week, as Favreau seems like a natural, and I love Andy Richter in almost anything (anything but Quintuplets, that is).


shadesong and I also watched Equilibrium last night. Wonderful action scenes. Plot holes big enough to drive a truck through, though, and Christian Bale seemed to be doing his damnedist to channel Keanu. Fortunately, it balanced the plot deficiencies nicely by being about as subtle as a brick smashing into your head.

Yeah, color me unimpressed.

Missed a lot of TV last night; who won Celebrity Poker?

And yeah, as much as I love Equilibrium, I concede the plot holes. I still love it for the cool fight scenes and for the simple fact that he saves the puppy. :)

Lauren Graham won last week's ep (this was from last Thurs, as I'm behind on Tivo).

Yeah, saving the puppy was nice (and I was more worried for him than any of the humans). But in the end, it's a DVD I'll pretty much use just to flip around to cool fight scenes.

Wow, I had a somewhat different perception of nearly everyone in Celebrity Poker last week. I can't stand how Dave Foley is doing the host gig. I thought Lauren must have been lying about no experience, because she consistently did exactly what the poker expert predicted the good player would do, and she repeatedly successfully bluffed on worthless cards-so the point about not getting good cards is irrelevant. Sara Rue and Chris Masterson just didn't play what they had. Lauren had no tells that I noticed, and a great poker face.

Oh, Lauren lying about her experience wouldn't shock me. But good as she played, she also had the right draws, too. Basically, it all came together a the right time for her.
