When I dropped my business card in your fishbowl at the recent trade show, it was not because I'm in any way, shape, or form interested in what you make (in most cases, I don't even really have any purchasing power over the product, nor will I foist you off on someone who does). I dropped my card in the bowl to win your fucking contest for a palm/laptop/giftcard. Which I didn't. So stop fucking calling and emailing me.

Dear Yendi:

We gave you the opportunity to win a laptop because you tacitly agreed to be harrassed so that we have some dim shot at selling you our product. Bizarrely enough, we don't give things away for free out of the goodness of our hearts.

If you have a severe problem with this, please stop putting cards into our bowls. It's not like you're likely to win anyway, and then you don't have to worry about the calls, which are more or less guaranteed while your prizes are not.

Thank you,
The Vendors

I work for a timeshare company. Caveat emptor, or whatever the phrase would be for "contest enter-er beware."

Dude, you opened the door.

Get some business cards with a disposable addy on it for contests. Then once you don't win delete them and all that spam.
