[livejournal.com profile] redcrowstudio (a nifty artist whose art lots of you own, given his background with White Wolf and Holistic Designs) is auctioning various comic-related stuff. This includes the First run of Lone Wolf and Cub, which have a bonus feature not found in the DH reprints -- you don't need a magnifying glass to read 'em!

Speaking of comics, a comic that Photognome and I were just discussing fondly is returning: What If?! And Peter David's writing a Hulk story for them!

btw, for anyone following the comics news, things got hella messy between Bendis and DC this weekend.

Hey, remember how Mary-Kate and Ashley were supposed to be heading to NYU so they could live "normal" lives? I wish my freshman experience had been this normal (well, minus the rebab).

John Kerry's arguments, as conveyed by The Onion, for why he should be president are spot-on.

By the way, on a more serious note, Bill Mahar's HBO show is as amazing as ever (and yeah, it's funny, but it's also required viewing, imho). http://www.safesearching.com/billmaher/print/transcripts.shtml has trancripts, although they don't have this week's show. Once that goes up, read the interview with Gary Hart -- the information there is stuff no one should skip.

[livejournal.com profile] kajivar points out that the PTC page for Angel has been hacked to list the show as family-friendly. :-) Catch it now before they change it back!

7-11 stores in Taiwan will start selling iPod minis. Yeah, I'd like a 288 oz Big Gulp, a day-old hot dog, and an MP3 player. What a convenience!

Right-wingers are floating a rumor that Kerry shouldn't be elected because he has Marfan's Syndrome. Aside from the fact that no one has ever heard of the disease, why in the world would you do anything that would allow Kerry to compare himself to Lincoln?

Hey, were you wondering why your Garfield and Friends DVD set has the backup feature presented as "Orson's Farm" instead of "U.S.Acres?" Mark Evanier has the answer (but why the hell do you own that DVD set in the first place if you're not Mark or someone else who actually worked on the 'toon?).

And finally, is there anyone, even an American, who isn't rooting against the US wankers in Olympic Basketball? If you're too "special" to stay in the Olympic Village with real competitors, you're probably too "special" to be at the Olympics.

I may be the only person alive who believes this, but if the spirit and the idea behind the Olympic games is that it is the best for amateur athletes, then I don't think that anybody who has ever earned a paycheck playing basketball has any business competing. In that event, I support whomever we're playing against.

See where you're coming from, but the other countries have the same thing...Yao Ming is playing for China, Vlad Divac for Lithuania, etc..

Dont mind the professional part so much...the prima donna bit is what pisses me...and I felt the same back in 1996 at the Atlanta Olympics..

I wasn't aware of that, but I'm glad I know. I don't think Ming should be competing for China or Divac for Lithuania, and the same goes for any other nation's team. Ditto hockey or any other sport.

And aren't "NBA star" and "prima donna" pretty synonymous?

I dated a boy in highschool who had Marfan's syndrome, albeit not a very severe case. References to it seem to crop up in my life from time to time.

7-11s in Taiwan sell cell phones and everything else, so I guess it's not that surprising...

Ya know, if I never read another Bendis project besides Ultimate Spiderman and Powers I will be perfectly happy. Those are the only two things of his that I've ever read and enjoyed, and I see no evidence that this will change unless he does.

He's sorta the Kevin Smith of comics, or at least he was until Kevin Smith started writing comics.

The last time Israeli athletes stayed in the Olympic Village was 1972. I think the US officials were worried about something similar happening to them this time.

'Cause of Wade, the duck who's scared of everything? I love Wade.:)
