Quick weekend summary
Aug. 29th, 2004 10:38 amFriday:
ashlupa dropped by to give Elayna a flute lesson! Miss Kid seems capable of generating sound from the instrument (when she remembers what she's supposed to do), which is a good first step. And the sound doesn't drive the cats (more) insane, either!
Saturday: Elayna saw an ad for a Nickelodeon contest on TV, and, needing information for the postcard she was supposed to send in, suddenly forgot the rule we have about her not waking adults up until 10 on weekends.
Did I mention that she forgot this rule at 6:45 AM?
So, no more TV for the kid yesterday.
Other fun event of yesterday morning was carrying a nice steaming hot cup of Storyhouse coffee and having my bare foot slip on something slimy, throwing hot coffee all over my hand and the floor. Yes, one of the cats, in the two minutes between my entering the kitchen and leaving it, had left a critique of their cat food. Ick.
The rest of the morning was then spent at Girl Scouts, as Elayna's troop had the first meeting of the year (including the parent information meeting). Four hours long. Ugh. But good stuff planned this year, including an overnight in September with the rest of the cookie sales money (good, since Elayna couldn't go on the summer trip, and she damned well deserves the chance to participate), a Braves game, a trip to Savannah (where the Girl Scouts were founded), adopting a nursing home, and other good stuff.
Rest of the day was just spent hanging out and getting stuff done, followed by watching Bill Mahar and the Teen Titans/JLU block at night (and that block continues to rule -- JLU had me in pain from laughing).
Today, more of the same. Slow days are nice.
Time to make the coffee. And I'll be watching my step this time.

I would LOVE To be able to institute a rule like that in our house, but its difficult with 3 children. Especially when one of them is only 3 years old, and can't tell time yet.
*sigh* And I'm amazed that he was up at 6:30 this morning, when he was awake well past 11 last night . Oh, we put him to bed at 8:30, but was being amazingly stubborn about it
"Look at you..you're so sleepy..you need to go to bed."
"No I don't, I'm need to wake up now!" (he protests as his eyes are half lidded and his head is falling to his chest).
Weekend sleep of more than 6 hours at a stretch. The holy grail for anyone with a child. *Sigh*

We instituted the rule when Elayna was 6, and it took a while for it to sink in.

Date: 2004-08-29 02:55 pm (UTC)BTW, you know that Onorati played future League member Warhawk on Batman Beyond, right?
Re: Must gush!
Date: 2004-08-29 03:04 pm (UTC)Ohyeah, I remembered he played Warhawk. I've been a fan of his since that annoying jiggly-camera commercial he did just before Bochco snapped him up. Ad was unmemorable, but Onorati REEKED charisma!
