tivo question

Someone out there apparently used me as Tivo referrer (which is wonderful, and I thank you). But since the @livejournal.com address isn't the one Tivo had for me, they can only give me credit for it if I provide them with your name, email, and Tivo account number, none of which were in the original referral email (which only said "David," which narrows it down to a handful of people, but possible more given spouses, etc). So, could whoever did it drop me a line (and thanks again!)?

Its almost a moot point--my new tivo is set up, out of the box, and it wont get past the "powering up screen" which means it--according to tivo support--it has to go back to best buy tomorrow. I hope Tivo quality isnt as bad as it looks right now!

If best buy gives me a hassle or wont exchange it (which would be insane since I bought it today) then I'll have to return it I suppose...sigh...I hope its worth the hassle...is it?

this was a snap decision that it would better to get a tivo than to rely on the pvr I set up for my home computer...which isnt so reliable and ties up my computer...but at least it WORKS...

Tivo is worth it.. and the upside.. you just might get to drop a second referral to yendi on the replacement unit.. which would be doubly sweet for him..

Best Buy was great about it when I had to replace my unit.. Just a recommendation.. take the extended warranty.. They will replace your unit no questions asked as long as you have the paperwork.. and if it last a few years.. You can do what I did.. I got the value of my original unit replaced.. and then on top of that added $50 and upgraded from an 80 to a 140 hour Tivo.. a sweet deal all around..
