[Poll #356837]
(For the record, yes, I know that a lot of the comics that First published originated at other companies, including Epic and Capital. But I'm talking about the First runs for these titles. And yes, you can ignore any issue of AF! that wasn't written by Chaykin.

As a Rolling Stone review said: Memo Billy Joel: A list is not a song.

I like it ok, but I find the quote very funny. And I was surprised that such an America-centric list of events was so popular in Australia.

There was always Musician's review of the same album, quoted below in full:

Billy Joel: Storm Front. Apt title for such a blowhard.

Anyone besides me remember the Sable TV series (http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0092444/combined) in the late 80's, featuring Rene Russo at the start of her career? I kind of enjoyed the 6 or 7 episodes that they aired...

Badger and Jon Sable were two of my favorite 80s comic titles. Nexus was also cool. My brother, who was mainly a Marvelite, turned me on to them, as I was enamoured of Wolverine. ;-)

I recently reread them just before I unloaded them on eBay. Sadly, I didn't get the price I expected but they did go to collectors who'll give them a good home.

I think after Rice's rant on amazon.com, any column about her would be way too easy.

I'd usually say go for the Anne Rice bashing, but it's not nice to make fun of crazy people.

just to keep you aware. i unfortunately am not a comics "geek" although I love comic books, and 2) I happen to like Anne Rice, although I am aware of her faults. this is not complaint it is just for your database of LJ user information.

Nexus was/is the best super-hero and science fiction comic book ever. The monthly title, anyway. Baron ran out of steam during the series of miniseries.

"We Didn't Start The Fire" is unworthy of consideration for "best" anything. Sorry.

My friend Rob does post-conviction death penalty work in Texas. I once described Nexus to him thusly:

"An alien grants him limitless power, but in exchange he has to kill anyone the alien wants."

Rob's response: "I have clients who've used that argument!"

I just found the plots thin or not very interesting in Starcraft. I supposes it was a step up from Warcraft's non plots.

I never read any of the (assuming) novelizations, so I guess I could be missing something.

Uh, I think I never did BW.

WARP was the shiznitz...
First with Brunner's adaptation, then after the adaptation, Gillis finding a way to keep the series going.

The three specials also were magic.

I'd also vote for Mars, which was an incredible piece of work by the best team ever.. Hempel/Wheatly.

Of couse E-Man after Staton took over gets a high vote as well.

Tassadar without a doubt. Out of all the characters in Starcraft, he's the only one that actually made a choice to sacrifice himself.

Proving I voted in the least active of the questions. What can I say?

I wouldn't have voted for Billy Joel, except that "Come On Eileen" is apparently listed as a "you must play this song every day" selection at a couple of "80s/90s hits" stations.

And a comment on the only unremarked-upon part of the poll: As annoying as Emeril is, at least I don't get the urge to beat him over the head with one of his own frying pans.
