One thing I do like about shadesong and Elayna being out of town: I can sleep with the door open (can't when 'song's here, as she doesn't want the cats in tbe bed, and can't when Elayna's around, as she doesn't grep the concept of letting people sleep in very well). That means I can wake up with cats in the bed. It's comforting.

If you join one LJ community this year, make it audiogasms. In the two weeks I've been there, I've discovered an unbelievable amount of music through this community, and found a ton of good MP3s I'd been wanting. I think I've added over 30 songs to my iTunes list today (including the current tune).

Perhaps the best link I found there is from muruch, to this site. Do not click on that link if you don't have a very fast connection. It will load over 500 thumbnail record covers. Each of those will link to not only MP3s and streams of the music from that album, but to images of the liners and the back covers. It's unsorted vinyl heaven!

shadesong's description of Bush last night: "It's like watching a chimp in a crash helmet." True. But it's actually like watching an evil chimp in a crash helmet.

Actually, what I really noticed is how much Bush'04 acted like Gore'00, right down to the eyerolling and sighing.

Speaking of our corrupt chimp-in-chief and the corporations who want to re-appoint him by hook or by crook, Diebold wasn't able to abuse the DMCA to prevent folks from pointing out the myriad flaws in their system. Poor babies. Won't stop them from fixing the election, but it'll make it harder to hide what they do.

In happier news, Ichiro is one hit away from tying the baseball hits record! Woohoo!

Judging from the IMDB, The Simpsons are no longer hiding which character has a gay marriage -- it's Patty. Not really a shock, there. Wonder what Skinner thinks?

Patty is the one who hasn't been married a bunch of times. Other than her relationship with Skinner (and he pursued her), she's never really been involved with anyone.

We can get it on our digital plan if we pay $5 more a month, which is tempting, but of the eight channels in that package, only FMC and Trio are worth watching.

It's possible that it's just not on the plan I have right now - I have some special where I get $80 worth of cable for $30 for a couple of months. And Neil said something in his blog about the bits being available elsewhere eventually. (DVD extras somewhere or something) But I really want to see it, he's done nothing but talk about it all year.

I like any of them except the horrible ones dipped in nuts or cocounut. But 'song isn't as much a fan of the non-chocolate ones, so any of the standard chocolate ones would rock -- Men's Pocky, regular chocolate, etc.

The one we tried this week was reverse Pocky, which was great (and less messy/melty).

ok, this might sound stupid. I know iTunes is originally a Mac thing, and I run an PC ... every time I try to use iTunes I get some weird error message and can't play them. Is it the platform difference, or am I doing something wrong?

Men's Pocky? Is there women's pocky too? Children's pocky? I only saw one kind when I was in Japan earlier this year. It was gooood, but not exactly inexpensive. I'm munching on Yan-yan now, which is sort of similar but different - chocolate on sesame sticks. Unlike Pocky, it has the advantage of being available here.

I'd love to know why they decided to name a flavor "Men's" Pocky. But it's my favorite flavor in spite of the silly name.

And I adore Yan Yan! It's been my favorite Japanese snack food for years (there was a brief time when there was an American candy version, and I fell in love with it as a kid).
