Tuesday TV: Gilmore and Mars
Feb. 9th, 2005 09:33 amGilmore Girls: For a 100th episode written by Amy, this sure felt like a random 70ish episode written by Daniel. In other words, some good moments, but some clunkers (including the very fact that Rory's crush object was even invited to the renewal ceremony, let alone allowed to bring a last-minute date, the lack of guilt/consequences for Lorelai getting someone fired, and other stuff). The lack of Paris was also annoying (I'm willing to forgive the minimal Lane given how much screen time she got last week). That said, the last five minutes were damned fine, and the running "you look great" gag did crack me up. Oh, and I loved the little "Desperate Housewives" references.
Veronica Mars: We made the painful choice not to watch Scrubs last night, this being the first time in a while that new episodes of both shows were against each other. I adore both shows -- they're two of my favorites on all of TV -- but VM has more can't-miss continuity issues. And this was a blast of an episode, mainly because Logan is just a great character, and gets more interesting each week. His dad is also getting more interesting, and I can't wait for Allyson Hanigan to appear as Logan's sister. Veronica's plotline was also fun, showcasing some of her weaknesses nicely. Plus, we got more Lily than we'd seen in a while, and the opening moment parroting the song made us chortle.
Anyone happen to have a digital copy of last night's Scrubs they feel like throwing me?

Date: 2005-02-09 05:56 pm (UTC)VM is rumored to be coming to DVD this summer. It's so frustrating, since it's really the best thing UPN's ever come up with. If they'd just move it to a night that doesn't conflict with shows I already watch, I wouldn't be faced with these decisions.
Gilmore Girls
