Or so the folks at Reinhardt Marketing believe.

Of course, as Staats points out, the comic market is pretty damned aware of the Sin City movie anyway, but that's not the reason that the marketers are using.

I wonder what sort of research, if any, that conclusion is based on?

I never see kids in either Criminal Records or Oxford, the only comic stores I regularly enter. But of course they're probably not representative.

Proving once again that professional marketers who depend on telephone surveys etc just fail to reach a wide number of people, understand how to calculate a demographic and fail to do actual footwork or have contact with the businesses info on who their customer base is.

ya gotta wonder who picked this marketing company out. I mean, the people who made the movie know better, the people who paid for the movie to be made know better, the people who are distributing the movie know better, so why doesn't the marketing firm know better?

The majority of marketers and salesmen are clueless. My wife used to own a rubber stamp store which, you may not be aware, has been a popular craft for about the last 10 years (it was a predecessor to scrapbooking). We had a salesman come in and try to sell us a line of Peanuts stamps because "kids love stamps."

Too bad there were NEVER any kids in her store. Just women 25 to 70.

That's totally ridiculous. All the hardcore movie geeks I know are well over thirty. They also have good jobs, lovely children, wives with large breasts, and active social lives.

Although Im not a comics geek, I'm just so sick of them being marginalized into weirdo status. Reading is reading, goddamit. Some books are all words; some books are full of visual art. Why must everything be pigeonholed so moronically?
