They're filming a Spirit movie. Not sure how I feel about that, as Eisner developed a visual style for his character that makes Frank Miller's look run of the mill, and which was pretty much lifted for Dick Tracy, anyway. And his ability to tell a story on the page, while inspired by movie techniques, transcended them, and I'm not sure how well anyone can translate it.

But hey, the screenwriter is "comic book legend" Jeph Loeb, who's given us such classic movies as Teen Wolf and Burglar. So what could possibly go wrong?

Looks like they're giving him super-powers, which cannot be a good idea.

Still, I bet it will be better than the first Spirit movie (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0094017/)

I never saw it myself, but it was an TV-movie-unsold-pilot starring Sam Jones. Some things you just know.

Burglar sucked. The source material (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0451180747/) was good, though.

I didn't even realize the movie was based on the Burglar novels until I was at a used book store and found a copy of The Burglar in the Closet with a big banner across the cover:

"THE OUTRAGEOUS BOOK THAT INSPIRED

NOW A WARNER BROS. MOTION PICTURE STARRING WHOOPI GOLDBERG"

"Waitaminute," I thought, "Whoopi Goldberg is who, now?"
