David Fury's new gig

crazypills pointed out that David Fury is leaving Lost after this season. I'm not too happy about that.

That said, one of the reasons he's leaving is to work on a show called The Inside, co-created by fellow Mutant Enemy alums Tim Minear (who gave us Wonderfalls) and Howard Gordon. I'm psyched for that.

Although I did note that it's on Fox. So it won't last a year.

Damn, for being so smart, Fury and Minear seem pretty stupid to keep going to Fox.

I think they are going to keep running at the projects, and fling, screaming into cancelation space, as Fox yanks their season order.

Looks like there's no ill feeling between Fury and Abrams. I wonder what the "personal reasons" were.

Sadly, it will probably have a half-life shorter than Strontium-89...

Given their track record, here's how I would expect it to go :

• They will order 13 episodes.


• They will broadcast the first one, or two, with a lot of fanfare.


• If it isn't an immediate, huge hit, they'll move it to another night (most likely without notice).


• They will show the next two, maybe three, episodes, and then it will vanish (again, with no warning).


• It won't be seen for several weeks, while they premiere "My Big Fat Obnoxious Millionaire Spring Break" or some such.


• Just as suddenly, it will start back up, and as many as four more episodes will air.


• Then, in spite of showing the normal weekly "Next time..." trailer, it will disappear (but this time it won't come back).

Six months to a year later, they'll released a "Complete Series" (or "Limited Series") DVD.
