For those with short-term memories, he's what Rocker said about playing up north a few years back:

Imagine having to take the 7 train to the ballpark, looking like you're Beirut next to some kid with purple hair next to some queer with AIDS right next to some dude who just got out of jail for the fourth time right next to some 20-year-old mom with four kids.

The biggest thing I don't like about New York are the foreigners. ...I'm not a very big fan of foreigners.You can walk an entire block in Times Square and not hear anybody speaking English. Asians and Koreans and Vietnamese and Indians and Russians and Spanish people and everything up there. How the hell did they get in this country?

I can only hope that Rocker gets the reception he deserves. Ditto his apologists (Atlanta was full of them back when Rocker was a great pitcher).

Rocker's problem is that he's stupid. There are plenty of Major Leaguers who think the way he does, and worse, but he's the only one dumb enough to say it in front of a Sports Illustrated reporter.

As the steroids scandal has proven, the only thing teams care about is performance. Rocker could have been running lynch mobs, but as long as he was saving 30+ games a year, he'd stay a Brave.
