Best. Andromeda. Evar.
Apr. 15th, 2005 03:58 pmKeith R.A. Decandido's Destruction of Illusions, which I read on the plane back to Atlanta, is not only one of the better TV tie-in novels (which sounds like I'm damning with faint praise, but it's actually good in its own right), it's also one of the best Andromeda adventures ever. Why? Not only does it focus on Tyr and Beka (telling their stories immediately before the pilot), but out of 270 pages, only seven of them feature Dylan Hunt. If only the show itself featured that sort of ratio.
Seriously, fans of the show (and I know there are a few on my flist) would really enjoy this one.

Great!
I read Dragon Precinct recently & recommend it.
I enjoyed The Brave and the Bold series -- that was just him. The Gorkon books are fun, too, with non-annoying Klingons (I like 'em in the show sometimes, desperately want to eviscerate them with a SPOON at other times).

Date: 2005-04-16 01:04 pm (UTC)I was...briefly.
Wolfe named a character in the pilot and in the final episode he wrote after a buddy of mine:
SFC Cronan Thompson. After the late great Cronan Thompson. (http://www.holyducttape.com/cronan/index.html)
And here is a post by Robert Wolfe talking about it. (http://groups-beta.google.com/group/alt.fan.tom-servo/msg/b4916b92291a9aa0) Just so you didn't think I was making it up.
Unfortunately, they got rid of Wolfe and let Sorbo pretty much take over. It went downhill from there.
