This blog post on the issues involved for a Muslim in low-earth orbit needing to determine the direction of Mecca is fascinating by itself (and, obviously, it's more of an issue for those in orbit -- when different directions face different parts of Earth -- than from other galaxies, when one must simply determine the direction of the Milky Way).

But I'm amused by the fact that it took all of six comments before someone brought up Babylon 5.

I rewatched Pitch Black last weekend (because I love it!) and then I watched it again with the commentary track - the plot involved a planet with three suns, and a group of stranded travelers. Some of the travelers are Muslims, and the actors portraying them were Muslims as well. Apparently they had a long discussion about which way the characters would face when praying. Finally they decided to face each other in a circle.

I thought it was kinda interesting :-)

Babylon 5... Thanks for the links to Amazon dvd sales in your earlier
posts.

I finally bought season 4 which covers the Shadow Wars
and the Earth/B5 conflict. JMS thought season 4 was his
last at the time so it wraps up a lot of storylines.
(i already had seasons 2 and 3)

It was only 29 at Amazon, i had been waiting for a sale :)
Also got Wolfen for just 5.47

Actually the HHS is calling for people to abstain from UNmarried sex. If you are fool enough to get married at 17 they are all for you scrumping like bunnies and turn out a well formed litter of kids with severly limited futures.

But wait until you are 25 or so and have a degree and clue what you want to do with life, oh no you shouldn't have kids, that would be a SIN!
