From an interview at moviehole with Gus Van Sant:

“Psycho” was great, a huge kind of grand experiment project. Very trial by fire. It met with a lot of criticism – but we managed to keep afloat, I think we broke even. But no, I wouldn’t remake another movie again, however, I’m thinking of remaking “Psycho” again. Doing a third remake. The idea this time is to really change it – we’re talking about doing a Punk rocker setting. Viggo Mortensen suggested it. He was married to Exene Cervenka and knows all the right people to get involved – all the right punk rocker etc – so he would definitely be involved if we go ahead.

Jesus fuck. You know all that shit I say about human life being so valuable that I can't condone capital punishment or war? Throw it out the window right now. Van Sant is one nipple suit away from becoming the next Schumacher.

I don't need to read this shit right before going to bed. Really.

Peter David, one of my favorite writers, is using the opportunity of 2/3 of his mainstream books ending to move onto more mature titles. His latest DC project, Fallen Angel, looks just incredible, and, shortly after reading that article, I found that Michael Kaluta will be providing the covers. I'm a happy camper.

I've never made a secret of how much of a Howard Chaykin fan I am. Well, he's got a graphic novel coming out this year that he's both writing and drawing. Much as I like Chaykin's writing, his art is something I've missed. And this looks like it'll be a winner.

And finally, I've raved any number of times about Usagi Yojimbo, which is simply one of the five best damnd comics of the last ten years. There's a nice (if not as long as I'd like) interview with Stan Sakai over at Pulse. Read it. And then buy the collections.

Off to sleep.

Had a nice relaxing day so far (unlike yesterday, when I woke up with about five minutes to spare to get Elayna to Karate). Made coffee and biscuits, had some more pie, relaxed for a while.

Also gave Elayna her first taste of key lime pie. I only let her have a bite, as her milk allergies, although not severe enough to be bothered by one bite, aren't worth risking a whole slice on. But, much to my surprise, she loved it! Since this pie was a bit on the tart side (I doubled the amount of key lime juice the recipe called for, amongst other changes -- I'll post the revised recipe here soon), I really didn't expect her to like it at all, but she really liked it! Given her historically bland patterns (not helped by never really being around folks who liked interesting foods while she was a toddler), I was very pleasantly surprised. Now, does anyone know of a dairy-free recipe for key lime pie? And one that's edible.

Afterwards, Elayna and [livejournal.com profile] shadesong played 1313 Dead End Drive, and then [livejournal.com profile] shadesong and [livejournal.com profile] anexstacy went out for shoes, while Elayna and I played Wingnuts (the niftiest update of Time Pilot/1942 ever) on my Mac (she watched the radar screen for me). After an hour of that and some serious hand cramps for me, we took a break for lunch, and now it's just a hanging out afternoon. It's a good day. :-)

Later, [livejournal.com profile] jet_li_wannabe is coming by, and we'll head to his place to finish our Blood Bowl match, followed by a trip to Casa [livejournal.com profile] voltbang and [livejournal.com profile] chelona for more Blood Bowl.

Anyway, time for more coffee.

I also created a new community -- [livejournal.com profile] mental_workout, for fans of puzzlers of any sort. It's a place to talk about puzzles, ask questions about ones that have you stumped, or post puzzles that you've created. More info on the userinfo page for the community, of course. :-)
