[livejournal.com profile] glenn5 came over last night, and he, [livejournal.com profile] shadesong, and I watched the season premiere of Lost, which was definitely fun. Not posting any spoilers here, but suffice to say, I'm intrigued. Not enough to drop Veronica Mars next week, but I'm definitely not going to wait for the reruns.

I now have my copy of Thud! . I'm amused by the fact that the only blurb from a fellow author (as opposed to a critic) is from A. S. Byatt.

I'm also amused by the fact that when I say "A. S. Byatt," my next instinct is to say "throw back a bottle of beer."

Words I never thought I'd read at Cnn.com: No one answered the telephone at Porky's Rib House on Wednesday.

Not much else going on. Tired and busy, as always.

Amazon's got the five-movie Planet of the Apes box set on sale for $25, 50% off the list price. That's $5 a movie, or about $.02 per ape.

Note that the set does not include the Tim Burton Crapfest remake of the original movie (which is out of print, but available for a buck or two, although that would be like flushing money down a toilet, albeit a toilet starring Mark Wahlberg and Helena Bonham Carter) or the TV series (which is fun, but way overpriced).

Schools

So, LJ now has a Schools feature, allowing you to list where you went to high school and college (and making Classmates.com even more pointless than it had always been).

But it's got issues.

For one, there's the list of New York City, New York schools, and the list of New York, New York schools.

Then there's the fact that, if you click on the former link, you'll see "Barnard College" and "Barnard College, Columbia University." You'll also find "City University of New York Hunter College," "Hunter College," and "Hunter College of the City University of New York." All pointing to separate lists.

That said, you won't find my high school, because schools are added by approval, so I had to fill out a form listing my school name, and when someone has verified that it's a real school and not already on the list, they'll add it.

Um, yeah.

Still, a nifty idea, if and when they actually implement it well.

(And yes, I've filed support requests).
