Author John Passarella and his wife Andrea run a charity fundraiser called Matthew's Miles to raise money for the Children's Cancer Foundation. Although the primary purpose is a walkathon, there is a set of affiliated eBay auctions associated with it, with all proceeds going to the CCF. There's a lot of nifty stuff there, including signed Buffy and Angel books by various cast members (and even a Serenity comic signed by Joss). There's even a frickin' huge pile of Laurel K Hamilton stuff. All donations are tax-deductible, as well.

TV thoughts: Gilmore
Oct. 5th, 2005 09:10 amSo. Fun episode. Nice to see another by Rebecca Rand Kirshner, although her voice isn't as dead-on as Amy's.
That said, how sad is it that three people, at least one of whom is theoretically smart, can't turn on a Mac? And a G5, even, which has a "real" power button as well as the usual keyboard option?
Not much in the way of surprises, but a necessary episode to ensure that the family dynamic plotlines move forward.
No House. But hey, at least there was a close baseball game. Who'd have thunk it, given the two during the daytime?

Amazon horror deals!
Oct. 5th, 2005 11:18 amMy favorite time of the month, and they've got good horror cheap, including a page of obscenely cheap Asian horror.
That includes Oldboy for $8.49, the SE of Audition for $12.49, and the preorder of Unborn But Forgotten for $5.99 (76% off)! Actually, I pretty much need to buy everything on that page.
They've also got a page of "psychological horror" at mostly 40% off, a page of "contemporary horror" (but nothing psychological, I guess) at 30-40% off, and a page of really cheap horror classics at 50% and more, including Demons for $4.99! Guess what I just ordered? At $4.99, that's less than a penny per gore shot!
I love this time of the year. Cheap-ass horror DVDs, and IFC shows Bava movies. Happy, happy, joy, joy.
