Yes, it's the Strawmato!

That, or it's a fraud, and someone simply stuck a strawberry inside a tomato. I know that Loverboy had a famous song in which they sang "strawberry and tomato DNA just won't splice," after all. And I trust them.

Ballot #1 at my local polling place. I win!

All the major candidates in the primary for state rep* had volunteers giving out stickers across the street. See, it's entirely a write-in election, and you can either hand-write the name and address of your candidate (which, given my handwriting, would likely be interpreted as a vote for an elder god, and not one of the cuddly and easy-to-pronounce ones like Hastur), or get a sticker with that info. Definitely a new voting experience for me.

Alas, there was no one offering stickers for Thomas Concannon, who is running a futile write-in campaign against the recently-resigned Register of Probate John "Thief" Buonomo. Since the latter is unopposed, I suspect that he'll end up re-elected to the office he had to leave in disgrace.

No sticker was needed in the Governor's Council race, as there were other announced candidates taking on curlergate star Marilyn Devaney. I suspect she'll still win, however, as she seems to be reasonably bulletproof.

There was also no sticker for just having voted. In GA, we got a nice peach sticker with "I voted" written on it, allowing us to shame our apathetic co-workers. Here, we just have to settle for the satisfaction of fulfilling our civic duty. Although we can also blog about it.

*Our previous state rep resigned to take over the RMV.

Amazon's Deal of the Day is Gilmore Girls: The Complete Series for $111.99 (57% off). Even though the last two seasons sucked on just about every level, I'd still hop all over this one if I had the spare cash (we only have the first two seasons on DVD, which is why this is more tempting than the periodic sales on the complete Buffy set (which also sucked during its last two seasons, didn't it?)).

And the DVD deal of the week is The Dog Whisperer: Seasons 1-3 for $65.99 (45% off). I've never watched the show, but if the man can train Eric Cartman, he's clearly pretty special.
