Year's Best Fantasy and Horror is no more.

And that's far from the worst news I've had in the last 24 hours. It's been a shitty week.

Here, go snark at Renee Zellweger's complete lack of fashion sense. It's not quite as cathartic as hugging a kitten, but we don't keep any of those around the office.

So, anyone want to bet that the differential diagnosis for Howie Mandel's recent hospitalization started with 26 possibilities?

The Rachel Ray Garbage Bowl.

(Anyone really surprised to see Miss EVOO's name associated with something useless?)

Yes, it's a bowl to put scraps in. Just that.

Yes, I get that it's deeper than your regular bowls. And it's pretty. But in the end, it's a fucking $18 unitasker. I've got plenty of mixing bowls. And I've never even come close to needing something bigger than one of them for scraps when cooking or baking. Maybe if I start cooking for fifty.

In other RR news, you can get a free sample of her Nutrish Dog Food, if you have a dog and also don't mind hating yourself a little bit. Seriously. "Nutrish." Oy. I wonder if there's a little microchip inside -- like in those greeting cards -- that sounds out the name in her annoying voice when you open up the bag?

Jim Balent's ungodly lack of talent makes for some funny stuff. NSFW. Or for drinking beverages while reading. There's a panel about 2/3 of the way into this review which namechecks a Travel Channel host in a very unintentional and disturbing way.

(Ganked from [livejournal.com profile] chebutykin).

1. I know she's criminally underused, but I'm still sad to hear that Ashley Jensen is leaving Ugly Betty. Maybe she can switch over to Eleventh Hour and make it almost as interesting as the original was.

2. The Whole Earth Catalogs are online! The assorted Co-Evolution Quarterly/Whole Earth Reviews are there, too. Free to read, pay to download. Note that the site is slow and not all that well-designed.

3. Youtube now has a Quick Capture option supporting webcams (including my built-in one). Roll your own direct-to-Youtube podcasts and rants! This might have been around for a while, but I only just discovered it.

4. Andy Richter Rules the Universe is finally coming to DVD! This actually kills one topic for the "we want it on DVD" panel I'm on at Arisia this weekend. It's a sacrifice I'm okay with.

5. Finally, here's how Porsche hacked the financial system (and shafted Volkswagen in the process).
