IFC is making a TV movie based on the Anita Blake novels. Based on this article, it'll be more horror/action oriented than ZOMG SHE'S IN A THREESOME WITH A WERE-NARWHAL AND A LEPRECHAUN. Although I'm assuming that if the series is successful enough, it'll undergo the same evolution as the books.

It's IFC. They run Whitest Kids U'Know. Narwhal werefucks could totally be within their purview.

It being a tv movie though I can see it being more a 'loosely based on the concept of Anita Blake" sort of thing.

You could do a pretty good job of adapting the first 2 or 3 books without too much worry, as long as you put a "view discretion, violence and zombies, omg!"

Someone alert Chris Sims!

Not a huge surprise though. While neither Tanya Huff or Jim Butcher's urban fantasy stuff scored big, the Charlaine Harris adaptation has for HBO. I'd expect more of the romance (i.e. sex) heavy series in the sub-genre to be plundered by various networks. Especially ones that can get away with nudity...

Butcher's stuff was butchered and so vanilla-d for TV that I almost fell asleep.

If they'd gone with the actual materials and tone, and put it on HBO/Showtime, it probably would have run at least 12 good episodes.

I love Dresden Files! I was so very disappointed when it was canceled. :(

In fairness, I have not yet read the novels.

Do give the books a try, I've enjoyed them and my wife loves them.

Rule 34! Oh, dear.

And it's not A leprechaun. It is THE leprechaun. Warwick Davis makes a hotter star than Verne Troyer.

Wonder who they'll get to play her.

When I first started reading the books, back before they turned into slime and skank, I pictured Julianna Margulies.
