(Folks more comfortable deep in the command line will scoff at the fact that I needed this info; folks less comfortable won't understand why I'd care in the first place.)

1. If you're forced to use the command-line Mysql interface because all of your gui clients (CocoaMysql, Sequel Pro, and even Access on the crappy Windows box sitting in the unused cube) choke on the Query From Hell, remember that the command you'll need is "Tee," not "Spool."

2. If, after pulling the Query From Hell into Excel, you want to convert Unix datestamps into something that might actually be useful in the real world, then us the formula =uglyunixtimestamp/86400 + "1/1/1970.

#2 will be off by 24 seconds, though the odds of that mattering with a one-day resolution are 24/86400 :-) [Also, I think you'll get the GMT day in the more common case where that matters.]

unix date is a pain but much more useful for most other things (really liked vinge's use of it in his zhengho stories)

how do you confuse tee and spool?
