So the thing about the One Hundred Push-Ups program is that it's training you to do 100 in a row*. It does it by having you do a bunch of smaller sets each day.

Well, I just finished Day Three of Week Three. And I'm in the third column.

Which means I've now actually done a hundred push-ups twice now. Yeah, it's not in a row, but even within a twelve minute period, that's more than I've ever done in a day before.

In other workout-related news, I realized why I don't use scales. The gym scale had me down to 185 last week (after a weekend of my mom visiting and taking us to places like Craigie on Main where I consumed roughly four billion calories), down five from my previous weight. This week, it had me up to 189, after a week of mostly being good and certainly working out. In the end, I'm happy to just use my doctor's much-better-calibrated scale, and rely on other things (like my pants getting looser) as indicators of success.

Oh, on the running front, I stalled at 1.3 miles this week. I'm hoping to hit 1.4 next week, and maybe 1.5 in the near future, which would be a full loop leading back to my house (after which I'll need a new route).

*There's no "Thirty-seven Push-Ups" program.

You have an iPhone, yes?

You should check out two apps:
Couch to 5K (or Couch to 10K) and Nike+ GPS.

I'm finding them both very helpful in motivating me to continue running regularly.

The Couch to whatever apps don't track distance, they just prompt you for ever increasing intervals.

There is nothing preventing you from making a thirty-seven push-ups program. Therefore, I find the fact that you haven't troubling.

Up to 7 7 5 5 8 today, with about 10 seconds between each. I think I can run greater distances than I am, but I am running into time issues. 45 minutes is about all I can take, and yesterday, that's what it took to run 3.5 miles (.3 of that being an *extremely challenging* hill, but still). Today, I don't think my calves are going to let me run, so walking it is.

I got stuck on a mile and change for quite a while, and it was frustrating. Once I got to a little over 2, things progressed a lot faster. Your mileage, in the far more literal sense than usual, may vary, but such was my experience.

My scale trick is to use the same scale every time, at the same time of day, and for the love of little green apples have it not be the gym scale. The gym scale is ALWAYS wrong, in a different amount each time.

Also? I've been running at the gym with some great success, but haven't tried outside yet. I *might* be able to do 1.3 miles outside, or I might not. Do you want to try to go for a run together sometime this week? (email is way better for communicating than LJ comment if the answer is yes)

My email is this username at gmail.

Ha. Hahaha. Ha.

I could maybe make that go some morning. And it's certainly cooler then. Email. I'm interested to see if I *can* run outside.
