Wow. Lots of death in the news today. Johnny Cash, one of my idols, is gone (and in the same year as June Carter Cash). The Man in Black is one of the reasons that, when people talk about country music sucking, I feel obliged to correct them. He was one of the music greats. And even if he'd lived another thirty years, he'd have died too soon.

And that was followed up by the news that John Ritter died. Cash, I wasn't surprised by. But Ritter just took me out of the blue. I won't pretend to have been a fan of his shows (which I almost universally hated, Hooperman being the exception), but he always seemed so much better than the parts he played. And he was great in so many of his guest spots and tv movies (Buffy and It come to mind).

And this is shortly after Charles Bronson, as well as Leni Riefenstahl, who won't be mourned in the slightest, but who was nevertheless a genius in her field. Looks like a bad week to be famous.

Wow. You're right. I hadn't heard until I read your post. It is a shame. And you're right about Johnny Cash all the way. Sad, sad, loss.

All the way around, actually.

this pic rocks! thank you. I never really listend to Cash much until I heard about that billboard he did (something to the effect of flipping of Nashville). Then I started listening to him. I like his music. Too bad about his health. But he led a very colorful life, and left behind some great music and stories for us to enjoy.

I've always held Johnny Cash as the exception in regards to my dislike of country music. He stood alone.

And Warren Zevon passed away a few days ago...

Not surprised on Johnny...knew when June passed on, he wouldnt be far behind...

John Ritter was a surprise though...like you, I saw him as rising above what he had to work with...capable of much more as he showed in Sling Blade...

Ah, c'mon. How could you not like his role in Buffy and on Hero at Large? *grins*

And who can forget his role in Skin Deep?

I tell you, I refuse to let Mom and Dad go on vacation next year. Last time it was Princess Di and Mother Teresa...

You remember Hooperman.

I knew there was a reason I liked you!

And Hero At Large... it's like Galaxy Quest, it explains why we're nuts the way we are.

(I'm tired of mourning, I really am.)

And I just bought a Johnny Cash CD last night at Border's. "50th Anniversary Edition - Sun Records"... "Extensive Liner Notes Included!"

Most of the top hits on it, 12 tracks for $6.

I even wore a black shirt today in his honor.
