Quick recap of the last few days:

Friday (last day of vacation), I finally spent a day doing nothing at all; I just broke out the old Playstation and booted up Final Fantasy Tactics.

Saturday: We took Elayna over to [livejournal.com profile] lupaloo's, where she met the entire crew of kids and had much fun, in spite of throwing a temper tantrum insisting that she didn't want to go there. We also had fun chatting with Lupa and her man, and Elayna, [livejournal.com profile] shadesong, and I all got haircuts from Lupa, too. Turns out their new place is really close to us, too, which is nice.

Sunday: Went to Decatur and hung out at Javamonkey, were we met [livejournal.com profile] ijk and [livejournal.com profile] albumlady, and also saw [livejournal.com profile] sirinek, [livejournal.com profile] bheansidhe, [livejournal.com profile] vidicon, [livejournal.com profile] sibylla, and [livejournal.com profile] ryokan (although never all at the same time), as well as [livejournal.com profile] albumlady's middle child, who kept Elayna entertained (and vice-versa). Much fun was had, as well as a trip to Noodle.

Sunday night: Game night at [livejournal.com profile] jet_li_wannabe's, which ended up being Apples to Apples, which I think I've now had my fill of. It was still fun, though. Attendees were myself, [livejournal.com profile] jet_li_wannabe, his Tracy, Steve and his new lady, and Jerry (yes, a room where the non-LJ people were the majority. Scary).

Then, Sunday late night. I get the worst fucking case of insomnia I've had in years. I haven't slept a fucking wink. If I didn't have that one unmovable meeting today, I wouldn't even think about work today. But I've got to go in. Crap. After two hours of tossing and turning, I played FFT and finished off part one. I then remembered that we were out of juiceboxes for Miss Kid's lunch, so took a nice 3 AM walk to Kroger. No lines. Go figure. And now, it's 5:30, and I'm still not that tired. But I know it's going to be a high-caffeine day.

Thats the link to set up a "houseparty" for the call tonight on the Dean For America site. You will want to ask your friends if anyone has a phone with a speaker in it so everyone can hear. :)

DFA should send you the numbers but if you registered and dont hear anything by like say, 6pm, call me 770-998-2768 and ill get you the number for the conference call. The call starts at 8.

If you guys decide to do this for LEWD tonight, let me know the link to your houseparty, and ill donate $25 to it. :) (you can put that as your fundraising goal if you guys cant or dont want to contribute)

I'm sorry about the insomnia. I understand all too well. Since I've got such a long day today I actual took some of the over the counter sleep stuff last night as a precaution against tossing and turning too much. Although even that wouldn't have helped if my body had decided it really wanted to be insomniac. Luckily for me it didn't.

Go to your meeting and then go home early. You deserve it :)

I. FFT! Huzzah. I hope you're enjoying it. Not sure what you mean by Part 1, but then I've been taking it really slow on the plot and just developing all my characters with super duper jobs.

II. A2A! Good fun, although I agree it can wear on ya as the night grows long.

III. The Spalding Gray of crap? I'm fascinated. Tell me more. I loved him in True Stories.

Ah! The first FFT. I dig it. It's a fun game, though you need a little patience with the loading times and the slow scrolling text in some places. *grins* Let me know if you want some tips on how to horribly imbalance the game ni your favor. ;)

Ohh. Family Guy. There's a series I've seen too little of. I love that show. :)

The ninja and samurai class make your character a badass, especially for their support abilities. There's a support ability that allows you to wield two weapons. This actually becomes more important in the GBA version where learning abilities is actually tied to items you have equipped. If you have two weapons of the same kibnd equipped, you learn twice as fast.

Also, go for the dancer job. I forget how to get there, but they are way too powerful for their own good. They are a mage-based class whose "dances" affect every enemy on the board. Either they deal damage of some sort to every enemy on the board, or- the most powerful ability in the game, imho- they inflict a random status ailment on everyone.

After two ruonds, you can have a board full of frogged, poisoned, and blinded enemies. It's almost sad.

The GBA version is gorgeous. They make the classes a little more balanced, and they introduce races that have exclusive jobs. They cut out the whole Zodiac thing (which I think is lame anyway) and introduce laws that you have to obey during combat. Laws vary frmo region to region, and they make fighting a little trickier, especially when you can't heal anyone in your party lest you get thrown in jail.

It's nice to see Squaresoft get back to good combat systems and decent plots (though this is obviously aimed towards a younger audience).
